Los Angeles Contemporary Archive (LACA) builds archival collections with artists, with the goal of inspiring artistic practices that are not overdetermined by the values of art institutions and markets. This grant of $50,000 will support their Archive Night School (ANS), a new after-work education program that focuses on the practical and theoretical concerns of working with archives as an artist. This program aims to challenge Western modes of art pedagogy, authority and individualism through communal archiving and group theory work.
