The Expanded Archives Network (EAN) connects freelance and institution-based archivists, curators, and other memory workers through a shared interest in artists’ archives, legacies, and futures. Founded as the Archives Network by ART360 Foundation (ART360) in 2019, the Expanded Archives Network is a collaboration between ART360 Foundation and Hauser & Wirth Institute (HWI) that seeks to build and foster a cross-cultural network for resource-sharing and innovation in the expanded field of artists’ archives.
Some of the goals of the EAN include:
- Provide supportive spaces for connection, knowledge exchange and activism in the archival field for aspiring and established archivists, curators and other memory workers
- Create platforms for new approaches to preserving cultural heritage produced by artists, including of artistic legacies, with a focus on marginalized communities
- Provide opportunities, training and practical tools to support archival workers and artist communities
- Foster new connections that transcend borders and help expand and redefine notions of cultural heritage and archival practice to align with contemporary perspectives
